WE’RE BRIGHTER LIVES.

We are passionate North Queenslanders who’ve been working to ensure better health in our region since 1989.

For more than 35 years, our community has helped us fund equipment, projects and research that make staying in hospital here in NQ a bit brighter. 

Your donations have helped pay for the big ticket items such as $1.2million towards the Children's Ward redevelopment in 2018, a $173,000 surgical laser to treat children with burns and scarring in 2024, an immersive birthing experience, $200,000 for the children's playground and so much more. 

Not only that, because of our community, we have also been able to provide the little extras that make a big difference to our patients and visitors, such as comfort items like quilts and activity packs for kids.

The Queensland Government funding to our hospital in Queensland is generated towards infrastructure and capital works, core equipment, and health services to provide the highest possible health care facilities. So, how does Brighter Lives make a difference? By stepping into the gap to provide the additional patient and visitor care facilities, keeping care local up here in the north and helping to brighten the lives of locals here in Townsville Hospital and Health Service. 

We rely heavily on the support of the community. It is through the generosity of many individuals, businesses and community groups that we can assist the hospital in its patient care and lifesaving work. Brighter Lives Townsville Hospital Foundation is fully committed to improving the lives of Townsville and the surrounding areas with 100% of all funds raised, donated or provided through sponsorship arrangements held locally for the benefit of our community.

We wouldn’t live anywhere else. So guaranteeing access to world-class public health care for all those who call NQ home, whenever they need it, is something we’re staunchly committed to.

As locals, we understand better than most the unique needs and health challenges faced by North Queenslanders, and those working to bring the highest quality of care and wellbeing to our region – from Halifax to Home Hill, Magnetic Island to Maxwelton.

We know that everyone looks forward to a healthy, happy life. And we also know that sometimes illness and injury get in the way of that. When that happens we’re here, and we’re here because you’re with us. By supporting Townsville Hospital and Health Service, together we are supporting access to high-quality public health in our communities.

Volunteers

The foundation provides an army of 120 selfless volunteers in yellow who generously donate their time across all areas of the hospital. 

From humble beginnings to indispensable community resource.

In 1989 an intrepid team set up the Townsville Hospital Foundation to support the hospital, its patients, staff, and visitors.

Fast forward 35 years and we are the official partner charity of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service. In 2020, Townsville Hospital Foundation was renamed to Brighter Lives to better represent the area we look after. Not only do we support the Townsville University Hospital but also the 18 public hospitals in our region, and two residential aged care facilities.
